HISTORY
In the initial days this bank was functioning as part of Malabar District Cooperative Bank. After formation of Palakkad district in 1963 the bank was named as Palakkad Central Cooperative Bank. This bank started functioning as Palakkad District Cooperative Bank from 1985. The bank started its initial work in this district with Deposit of Rs.46.54 Crores and Rs.92.45 Crores as Advances.

Model Operations to the Cooperative Movement:
Interest-free loan to Paddy Farmers was conceptualised and introduced first time in India.
This scheme was accepted warmly by paddy growers and has helped in fast spreading paddy cultivation.
Jilla Bank remits whole insurance premium amount for Paddy Harvest Loan Scheme for paddy growers.
Banking in Tribal areas was introduced for the first time in India through Mobile Banking unit.
To help the paddy growers Jilla Bank has taken the reins of leadership in forming consortium including all primary cooperative banks in the disctrict to release payments to the farmers during the procurement time.

  4. Introducing schemes to help Societies function in the converage gap in the district to come out of coverage gap and loss.
  5. Prepares an Annual Development Action Plan on Deposits, Loans and Loan Arrears of Cooperative Societies in the district and evaluate progress of Action plan in quaterly conferences of Primary Cooperative banks in the district.
  6. Financial help to Literary Workers Cooperative Society as part of “Cooperative Navaratnam Keraliyam”.
  7. Strong and active endeavours to control price of commodities during Onam season by organising Onam Markets (Onachantha) of wide range of commodities.

  9. Inclusive Family get-together (Kudumbasangamam) of all staff, Board of Directors and family members of them.
  10. One Time Settlement schemes for loan defaulters
  11. Successful completion of implementation of Phase 1 of Comprehensive Cooperative Development Plan and also on-going progressive implementaion of  Phase 2 of the Plan.
